DéObia Oparéi

Founder, The Unsilenced

DéObia Oparéi is an internationally recognised actor who has appeared in and starred across some of the most iconic screen worlds of our time. From David Fincher's Alien³ and Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Dredd, Independence Day: Resurgence, Tim Burton's Dumbo, Jumanji: The Next Level, Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man and The Gray Man, DéObia has built a formidable body of work across independent cinema and global blockbuster filmmaking. On television, their credits include HBO's cultural phenomenon Game of Thrones, Netflix's Sex Education and Santa Clarita Diet, Marvel Studios' Loki, The Orville and many more titles. They have worked across some of the biggest cinematic and television franchises in the world, bringing a distinctive physicality, intelligence and depth to every role.

DéObia's creative education began in the theatre—and it is here that the foundations of The Unsilenced were forged. They have performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, appearing in productions including Cymbeline, Faustus, A Clockwork Orange and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and at the National Theatre in Troilus and Cressida, Haroun and the Sea Stories and The White Devil. They are also a published playwright whose first play, Crazyblackmuthafuckin'self, premiered at London's Royal Court Theatre to critical acclaim. Today, DéObia brings more than three decades of experience across theatre, film and television into The Unsilenced—and along with a team of other professional actors they have designed a creative ecosystem designed to train talent, develop voices, create opportunities and give artists the infrastructure to make the work they were told to wait for.
